Overviews and Examples

The following overviews of alphabets, abbreviations, special characters and ligatures are intended as examples and for the identification of individual characters.

If a character or sign has not been defined by the Unicode Consortium, but by the Medieval Unicode Font Initiative (MUFI) as a fixed code point within the Private Use Area (PUA), only the so-called Mufi entity may be used for transcription.

The rules defined here apply to the transcription of ligatures.
